Morning Session:

"Developing a Housing Retention Plan"

Beginning when people are developing housing goals the discussion will need to focus on how each person will sustain the housing. Identifying potential barriers using a housing and homelessness history and developing plans to meet the expectations of tenancy will be discussed. As people have moved to housing we will also focus on identifying strengths and barriers to sustaining tenancy, maintaining good communication with landlords to prevent crisis and using a shared decision making model to negotiate the plan. Techniques to support strong tenancy and eviction prevention techniques will also be discussed. Case studies will be used to problem solve in small groups and highlight best practices.

Afternoon Session:

"Using Critical Time Intervention Techniques in a Housing First Model"

Critical Time Intervention is an evidence based practice designed to assist in the transition to housing. The program is structured with a lower caseload, is time limited and designed to provide the most intensive services in the initial period of housing, titrating back the services as the person increase their connection to community based services and supports. CTI is often a supportive practice in a CTI system and is consistent with the practice of Housing First. A discussion of the structure and practice approach of a CTI program will be discussed as well as integration strategies with Housing First and longer term case management interventions. Program examples will be discussed.
